No, but I have been watching the Contest performances on the TV. I saw yours and wanted to say, that it was impressive.

It reminded me of training my Bewear.

Well, you know, I gotta keep quality high with my Pokemon. Potya was interested in the competition more than anything. I choreographed a lot but it was a lot of her idea.

Bewear are those big huggers aren't they?

Yes they are. They are also unaware of their own power - he nearly killed me after he evolved. After that, I had to train him differently. I would throw eggs for him to catch, until he could do it without breaking them.

Yeah, Potya doesn't quite have that problem. Still, she got really good with the egg with practice. Maybe she and your Bewear can hang out sometime and trade tricks.

Perhaps. She will most likely have to put up with my Luxray first. She is...combative, towards other felines.

That's fair. Potya is used to being top cat, though Victor puts her through her paces against her will.

You decided not to come?

I had made plans prior to the contest to travel with a friend. I did not think my Pokemon would be interested either, but I may be wrong about that.

[ Indeed, some had taken a deep interest in what they had seen on the Gear as they'd traveled or stopped to camp for the night. No doubt next time there would be some more vocal demands to try and force Walter to get involved. ]

Yeah, well, it seems Pokemon were way more into it than the trainers were in a lot of cases. I mean, I'm always glad to compete.

Which ones do you think were good?

Yours, as I mentioned. The girl in the beauty category who used an Audino with Heal Pulse and music. The man with the Greninja in the Cool category too, using the glass beads.

It was a pity there were not more from the same category as you. From what I saw of the native people performing, there is a lot that can be done within it that would fit.

It's fine. The less people performing the more likely I am to win, even if I'd prefer to have real competition. Some of them were pretty good but I know Potya and I are going to.

We busted ass. There's no way we're going to lose!

Which one would you have gone for?

Clever...I think it is where my Pokemon and I would fit in best. But I would need to determine who I would use, and what we would be doing beforehand.

Although I would not hold as much value in winning as you do.

Winning is my life back home. It's my livelihood and my parents are competitors too. Plus it just feels good to have your hard work rewarded.

You should join next time so we can actually meet.

I never took part in any competitions back in my world. It's only here that I've been able to take part in things like the Gym Battles.

I would like that too. When I return from my travels, maybe another contest will be held.

Yeah, then I can kick your ass too!! We can practice together though, its good to get a second eye while you're building it.

I would appreciate that. I think you would have a lot to teach me about competitions like this.

I've been competing all my life. Competitions are all basically the same. Work hard, be sharp and you're bound to succeed.

So it is not too different to traditional Pokemon training?

Nope! Just gotta stay focused and reach for victory. If you work hard enough and play to your talents there's no reason why you can't win.

I mean, besides entering the same category as me. That's a huge reason as to why you wouldn't win.

[ He's not deeply competitive but he does not like being brushed off. The last people to do that were the same people who raised him with a knife in hand, then seemed shocked when he turned the blade on them. ]

I dismiss everyone lightly, because I'm just that great at what I do. Plus, maybe you'll feel inspired and we can have a good hard competition!

[ Walter could see that Yuri had immense pride. It wasn't his place to really challenge that. He knew that prideful people simply would be so. But it seemed like Yuri was willing to show him how to take part, and he appreciated that. Being offered company was nice, especially if they could focus on training. ]
