Continued from Here--> Otabek
For a little while after coming home to Russia Yuri was able to celebrate having won gold. He let himself get lost in the excitement, spending quite a bit of time with his grandfather and the few friends he had from the rink before the excitement died down. Then it was time to get back to work.
And back to work meant time to think.
Think about things Otabek said in text messages. Think about things that happened in hotel rooms that shouldn't have happened but Yuri was stubborn. Because when JJ put out a challenge he couldn't seem to bring himself to back down because it was JJ.
Was that something you were supposed to tell other people about if you were going to date them? Otabek had been so ... polite. And Yuri had turned him down because he didn't know. He didn't know if he was supposed to say anything or if it was what he wanted at all or even if he was good enough to be doing that.
Dating. After a hotel room blow job out of spite. Y e a h . . .
He was in his home rink, stretching before taking to the ice. He wasn't sure if and when Otabek would be arriving, like he'd implied he would. It'd be nice to have an actual friend around... He stretches his arms above his head, tiling his head back a moment before laying forward. Splits were easy at least. He could focus on the dull pull of muscles he'd neglected a little instead of how stupid he was.

The person he actually liked and was friends with.
Yuri's face turns red and he has to resist the urge to swing across the halfwall again. Instead he swallows it down, looking down his nose at JJ, some how, despite being shorter.
"I've yet to break anything on you." Then he turns and skates across the rink just to get away from JJ.

So unless Yuri decided to indulge him, he wouldn't ask.
Still, he was frustrated by JJ's presence. His brows furrowed as he watched JJ, lift up one arm in a wave and turn to leave.
"You couldn't if you wanted to," JJ shouted after Yuri, as he walked away, towards the exit of the rink.
Otabek was just glad he was leaving.

"Let's get back to practice."
Yuri offered no other information. He focused on skating during the practice and after they were off the ice he grabbed the shirt up before going into the locker room.
Good it was at least WASHED.
"You want to come over for coffee?"
no subject
He wore jeans, a t-shirt, a black jacket and scarf, and felt nice and warm in the outfit he had chosen for himself. The air was cool, but it would feel good after working as they did.
Once he knew Yuri was dressed, he led him towards his bike parked outside. On the back seat of it, was the helmet he had gotten for Yuri, on the front seat was his own.
"Just let me know the way."
no subject
"Woah.." He grasps it between his hands. "This is amazing...!"
He grins up at Otabek then reaches up to take his hair down, tossing it about a bit.
"Cool, cool coool!"
Definitely fifteen.
no subject
"Good," he said. He moved to put on his own helmet and got on the front of the bike.
He pat the seat behind him so Yuri could climb on. "I'll get us there."
It'd be nice to feel the wind as they drove. It'd be nice to forget about the encounter with JJ (he was trying to forget the way he felt when he saw him kiss Yuri right there - what gave him the right).
no subject
He remembered the conversation they had over the phone and thougut about it again.
Otabek was nice.. he deserved betterms, right? He just didn't know yet.
Not that Yuri wasn't great. He just didn't feel all that great. The coffee shop came too quickly and Yuri didn't climb off the bike right away. He just pulled his helmet off and looked up at Otabek.
"So is this a date?"
no subject
"It can be," he answered. He felt that this was the best way to go. Yuri knew that Otabek wanted that, but Otabek was unsure about Yuri's thoughts on everything.
He'd never tell his friend it was a date in case it made him uncomfortable.
no subject
"...I'm not against it, I just don't know what a date really.. what you're supposed to do."
Movies made it romantic, his grandfather said it could be something simple...
no subject
"So I'll get us coffee. As a start."
He set the helmets on the seats of the motorcycle, and started to head inside. He held the door open for Yuri.
there is a girl creeping in your otabek icon
He wondered if he should say anything about the thing with JJ. Probably no? Or.. well Otabek hadn't asked, maybe he didn't care..? Or didn't see. Probably didn't see. This was complicated.
"I don't usually drink coffee.. I'm not even sure why I suggested it, it seemed like the thing you're supposed to suggest."
YEP there for yuri - just like bek is :D :D :D
He found a table, still off to the side despite the quietness of the place, and took a seat there.
"That was weird," he said, "at the rink. I hope he doesn't stay in Russia too long."
stalkerrr
Then Otabek brought up JJ.
"Who knows! I don't know what he's after!" Maybe that was a bit too loud but Yuri wanted to slouch away under his hood and flee the conversation already.
"He's just here to bother me. We had an argument and now he's making it his life's purpose to harass me as much as possible."
YEPPPPPPPPP
He was a distraction.
Clearly.
"He seems the type to do it just to rile up people."
no subject
"He stole my shirt after the banquet and we ended up butting heads and it turned into this weird.. ..thing and he pissed me off and I let it bother me and one thing just.. led.. t .."
No, things didn't actually work like that, stop..
no subject
"Ah," he said. He partially thought that maybe Yuri wouldn't want to tell him.
Oddly, that was alright with him. He had no claim over Yuri, and it had happened before he had gotten the nerve to even tell Yuri that he had more complicated feelings than anticipated.
Still, he was a little jealous by what he had seen.
"I'm sure you're not the first he's upset."
no subject
"I don't know what he's actually looking for... I thought he'd be focusing more on. ... On his fiancee right now, not.. harassing me. It seems counter productive doesn't it?"
There was a clear concern there. Why would JJ come all the way to Russia? Please don't say feelings. That would be too weird. Didn't Yuri have enough to deal with?
no subject
"He seems to be odd. I don't think he takes his relationship seriously. He even kissed you."
There. He said it.
But he fully believed if JJ was serious about his relationship, he wouldn't mess around.
He hoped that there were no feelings involved. It would seriously disrupt things with Yuri, he feared.
no subject
Otabek HAD seen the kiss. Yuri slouches in his chair, drawing his legs up. He pulls his hood up as well, seeming to just want to crawl deep into himself and hide for a moment. Otabek was his friend though, right?
Things would be easier if he could tell someone what happened. He should tell someone. Just blurt it out.
"The only reason he kissed me was because I kissed him first." Not the whole truth, but. "Just to piss him off but it didn't exactly work."
no subject
He was trying desperately not to show it, though. It sounded like JJ got exactly what he wanted out of Yuri.
He sat there in silence as a girl brought over two menus, quickly moving away when she noted the feel of the conversation happening at the table.
"That... makes a lot of sense," Otabek said. "It's, well." Should he ask? No. He stopped himself and approached what he wanted to say just a little differently. "As long as nothing is going on now... " it wasn't his business.
no subject
"And what if there was?" He blurted out, feeling his anger making him stupid. "It shouldn't even matter if there was, since I'm here with you right now and not that idiot."
Yes, what if Yuri WAS in a relationship with someone else, Otabek? Couldn't you embrace adultery with him anyway? Ugh.
One day Yuri would think before he spoke.
no subject
"I'm always going to be your friend, Yuri." He tried to speak with sincerity. He was a little hurt, really. He barely ever had friends before, so he certainly hadn't ever had more than friendly feelings before. It was worse than he imagined.
It wasn't going well.
What was he supposed to do or say?
"You can be with whoever you want, and I am glad you are here with me." He just wanted to know so he knew how invested to become.
no subject
The petit skater scrubs his face with his hands, letting his legs drop down.
"..I'll talk to that Canadian idiot and find out what he wants. Just to.. to make everything firm and clear and.. and set in stone or whatever..."
He had to resolve this JJ fiasco then he could focus his attention here...
no subject
"Until then," he looked up towards the girl who approached, and he ordered himself some coffee and some cookies. He didn't eat many sweets, but he did like them with coffee.
Until then, he figured it'd be good to just enjoy the time here.
no subject
He was glad to order something sweet and hot chocolate, refocusing the conversation around to his cats. It was a light enough topic and he asked quite a bit about Otabek's bike.
Anything for this conversation to feel normal.
