Continued from Here--> Otabek
For a little while after coming home to Russia Yuri was able to celebrate having won gold. He let himself get lost in the excitement, spending quite a bit of time with his grandfather and the few friends he had from the rink before the excitement died down. Then it was time to get back to work.
And back to work meant time to think.
Think about things Otabek said in text messages. Think about things that happened in hotel rooms that shouldn't have happened but Yuri was stubborn. Because when JJ put out a challenge he couldn't seem to bring himself to back down because it was JJ.
Was that something you were supposed to tell other people about if you were going to date them? Otabek had been so ... polite. And Yuri had turned him down because he didn't know. He didn't know if he was supposed to say anything or if it was what he wanted at all or even if he was good enough to be doing that.
Dating. After a hotel room blow job out of spite. Y e a h . . .
He was in his home rink, stretching before taking to the ice. He wasn't sure if and when Otabek would be arriving, like he'd implied he would. It'd be nice to have an actual friend around... He stretches his arms above his head, tiling his head back a moment before laying forward. Splits were easy at least. He could focus on the dull pull of muscles he'd neglected a little instead of how stupid he was.

He arrived to the rink when Yuri was stretching, he seemed to be getting ready to take to the rink for practice. He moved towards one of the benches near the ice so that he could stretch before putting on his skates and taking to the ice.
He made sure his entrance was quiet, as he didn't want to disrupt Yuri, since he seemed to be concentrating on what he was doing.
Sure, the conversation they had by text worried him a little. The way Yuri had talked worried him a little. But, well, he wouldn't ask about it. Not unless Yuri opted to talk about it. He assumed it wasn't his business.
He watched Yuri stretch, starting to stretch himself a little bit away. He felt a little awkward. More awkward than he anticipated. He'd have to bury it in order to maintain the friendship he had so desperately wanted for so long.
no subject
He draws his legs in, shifting to his feet so he can tie his hair up into a sloppy bun on the high back of his head.
He turns as he does so, walking without paying much mind and trips straight over Otabek.
Yuri stumbles, grabbing hard onto Otabek to avoid landing too hard. His face was pure rage, rage that would have resulted in broken souls of he didn't catch himself.
"Otabek! When did you-- you didn't say you were in town yet..."
no subject
"I got in really late last night, so I didn't want to disturb you." He thought it would be rude to text someone that he anticipated was probably sleeping.
Especially if he knew he'd be seeing them the next day for training.
no subject
He didn't know how to greet Otabek. Hand shake? Hug? Hugging seemed a bit much.
"It's good you're here. I usually get stuck skating with the girls all the time.."
They could teach each other things..?
"How was the flight..?"
no subject
"I'll keep that in mind," Otabek said. Still, it felt rude of him to text someone at two or three in the morning. Especially an athlete.
"I'll get my skates on," he rested one hand on Yuri's shoulder for a brief moment, before offering him a thumbs-up.
no subject
Okay, maybe he was a bit attracted to the bike.
He returns the thumbs up, cheeks just a little red before hesitating.
"..I'll..go warm up." Becausee he wasn't goof at waiting.
The cool air of the rink could at least help him relax
no subject
Otabek smiled when he got the thumbs up, and moved to sit down and get his skates on. He put them on as Yuri took to the ice, watching him for a moment, before returning to getting his skates on. He pulled off the guards on his skates before moving to the entrance of the rink.
He stepped out onto the ice.
Once on the ice, he was able to lose himself for a moment to the cool air rising from it. He felt better, his body relaxed. He closed his eyes and took it in.
no subject
"What did you want to practice..? I can show you things if you want?"
Even though he was younger.
no subject
He wanted to inspire people and draw them in.
He wanted to be more like Yuri.
The reality is, he just wanted to see whatever it was that Yuri was willing to show him.
"I'd like to see you."
no subject
Did he sound arrogant? He totally sounded arrogant. It made him make a grumpy face at the ice. He glances at Otabek then skates ahead.
He just wanted to show the basic stuff he showed Yuuri. Simple landing techniques.
jj's comin' in next post to ruin the day :D
He skates after him, keeping a safe distance, so he could watch without getting in the way. He closed his eyes for a moment, and smiled - the moment was very brief. He didn't necessarily want Yuri to see it. He immediately went back to concentrating.
Once Yuri landed, he moved, working to imitate what he had seen. His movements weren't as fluid or as graceful when he jumped or landed.
Screeee
"Not like tha-- you move like Frankenstein." He slides up next to Otabek, taking his arm to help extend it.
"Like this. Bring it in then outwards."
He draws his arm back to show him, hand in a delicate pose.
"The whole arm should flow together and it'll help in the turn.."
he's such a ruiner
Still, it meant he could spend some time taking a break and training. He'd do a little traveling.
It was how he ended up in Russia.
That, and he still had Yuri's shirt. Now, it had been washed.
He bust into the rank, interrupting what looked to be some moment between Yuri and Otabek training, and he shouted.
"Yuri!" his voice was loud. "I have your shirt, still!"
Glorious
Mother.. Russia save him.
"..Excuse me. I need to go kick this idiot out."
He skated smoothly over, grabbing the half wall.
"What are you doing here. Did you fly all the way here ovwe a shirt? Have you not heard of the postal system!?"
His voice was a hiss, kept low so Otabek couldn't over hear.
no subject
His eyes darted towards Otabek, who immediately appeared to be on guard as a result of seeing JJ. He kept his distance, but he was watching. JJ could feel the Kazakh's eyes on him.
He reached forward, gripped Yuri's chin, and pulled it towards him. "Izzy respects both me, you, and the sport, but she figured it out after you nearly plowed her over." He leaned down, and kissed Yuri hard.
While he did, he watched Otabek, knowing Yuri's back was towards him, he looked different from JJ ever remembered seeing him. So cool. So collected. And now - this had visibly hurt.
no subject
Then those fingers were grasping his chin. He makes a small surprised noise as he's pulled in. His face rushed red and he yanks back, his hand grasping over his mouth.
What the hell was this!? What!?
So he reacts as anyone should and slapped JJ swiftly across the face.
"I'm not playing anymore."
no subject
He shut up, though, because not long after he felt Yuri's hand on his cheek, Otabek was there, skating right up near Yuri, feeling the need to intervene.
His eyes locked onto JJ, and his brows furrowed into an annoyed glare. He didn't say anything.
JJ lifted a hand, waving him off, "Chill out. I'm just messing with him."
Otabek looked between Yuri and JJ for a moment, his attention shifting constantly. He would let Yuri decide if he was okay, so he looked to him for an answer.
no subject
He glances to the side when he hears the sound of skates near him. He glances over, seeing Otabek. He'd come over so quickly, Yuri was.. surprised to say the least.
Alas, but still annoyed by JJ.
"Its fine, Bek. I can handle it."
Otabek couldn't have seen what really just happened. Could he have? Yuri was going to let denial sit on that one.
"You returned it, can I go back to practice now or did you want to wax poetic for a few more minutes?"
no subject
But Yuri said he could handle him. When he did, he took a few steps back, and just watched. He knew and understand Yuri could, but that didn't stop him from wanting to protect him.
JJ waved an arm, "Fine, fine. I'll see you again soon. I"m in Russia for a few weeks."
He looked towards Otabek.
"Be careful with this one, he's a heartbreaker."
no subject
The person he actually liked and was friends with.
Yuri's face turns red and he has to resist the urge to swing across the halfwall again. Instead he swallows it down, looking down his nose at JJ, some how, despite being shorter.
"I've yet to break anything on you." Then he turns and skates across the rink just to get away from JJ.
no subject
So unless Yuri decided to indulge him, he wouldn't ask.
Still, he was frustrated by JJ's presence. His brows furrowed as he watched JJ, lift up one arm in a wave and turn to leave.
"You couldn't if you wanted to," JJ shouted after Yuri, as he walked away, towards the exit of the rink.
Otabek was just glad he was leaving.
no subject
"Let's get back to practice."
Yuri offered no other information. He focused on skating during the practice and after they were off the ice he grabbed the shirt up before going into the locker room.
Good it was at least WASHED.
"You want to come over for coffee?"
no subject
He wore jeans, a t-shirt, a black jacket and scarf, and felt nice and warm in the outfit he had chosen for himself. The air was cool, but it would feel good after working as they did.
Once he knew Yuri was dressed, he led him towards his bike parked outside. On the back seat of it, was the helmet he had gotten for Yuri, on the front seat was his own.
"Just let me know the way."
no subject
"Woah.." He grasps it between his hands. "This is amazing...!"
He grins up at Otabek then reaches up to take his hair down, tossing it about a bit.
"Cool, cool coool!"
Definitely fifteen.
no subject
"Good," he said. He moved to put on his own helmet and got on the front of the bike.
He pat the seat behind him so Yuri could climb on. "I'll get us there."
It'd be nice to feel the wind as they drove. It'd be nice to forget about the encounter with JJ (he was trying to forget the way he felt when he saw him kiss Yuri right there - what gave him the right).
